Are you committed to improving Europe’s digital infrastructure? If so, you may be eligible for CEF Digital funding. CEF Digital is part of the overarching CEF grant programme and encourages organisations to develop innovative projects for a stronger, more secure and high-quality digital infrastructure in Europe. CEF Digital’s work programme runs from 2021-2027, with a grant budget of as much as € 1.5 billion. Each year new calls for proposals opens.
For whom?
Various partnerships may be eligible for this grant scheme. Here, it is important that the project contributes to Europe’s future digital infrastructure. A partnership can consist of:
- Companies
- Knowledge & Research institutions
- NGO’s
- Governments
Grant budget
A total budget of € 1.5 billion has been made available for the entire duration.
Which projects are eligible?
Applications can be submitted by individual parties or as a collaborative project. Here, the project must fall under one of the following themes:
- 5G for Smart Communities
- 5G coverage along Transport Corridors
- Backbone networks for pan-European Cloud Federation
- Backbone connectivity for Digital Global Gateways
- Coordinating and supporting activities
CEF Digital in 2025?
The 2025 CEF Digital call has already closed. A total budget of €323 million was available for this, which was divided under the following themes:
- 5G projects €105 million
- Backbone connectivity €128 million
- Quantum communication infrastructure €90 million
