IONITY

Accelerating the shift to sustainable mobility in Europe, IONITY is working on the further development of a user-friendly and future-proof charging infrastructure. By enabling fast and effortless charging of electric vehicles (EVs), drivers can travel across Europe with ease and confidence.

IONITY

The Rocin-Eco project

With its innovative Rocin-Eco project, IONITY is taking a significant step towards autonomous charging. The current network already includes over 400 charging locations, each equipped with multiple high-power chargers delivering up to 350 kW. Using advanced technology, this system is being upgraded with automated charging cables that connect and disconnect without human intervention. This not only makes the charging process faster, more efficient, and more accessible, but also increases the capacity of each charger by approximately 15%.

Consortium of innovative market leaders

This project is the result of a collaboration between leading players in the automotive and technology sectors, including TÜV SÜD, Audi, Rocsys, and Huber+Suhner. Renowned car manufacturers such as BMW, Porsche, Daimler, AVL and Ford are also closely involved. Together, they are exploring key components such as vehicle-to-charger communication, parking precision, and safety monitoring during the charging process.

Collaboration with FirstBlue

To support the financing of Rocin-Eco, the consortium successfully secured funding through the German programme Elektromobilität F&E – Fast Lane. FirstBlue and Hezelburcht provided end-to-end support throughout the grant process – from drafting and submitting the application to offering administrative assistance during the implementation phase.

Through Rocin-Eco, IONITY is contributing to a strong, cross-border charging infrastructure in Europe. This project not only enhances convenience for EV drivers but also supports broader climate goals and a greener future.
