The European Commission has launched nine new calls under the Digital Europe Programme, aimed at driving digital innovation and reinforcing technological capabilities throughout Europe. In total, € 204 million has been allocated to support these initiatives.
Key priorities of the Digital Europe programme
The newly announced calls seek to boost the adoption and integration of advanced digital technologies across various sectors. Main areas of focus include the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data, the expansion of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) network, the implementation of the EU Digital Identity Wallet, advancements in automotive digitalisation, the enhancement of digital skills, and the development of digital solutions for public administration.
First call now open for proposals
Published on 9 October 2025, the first call ‘European Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licences’ has already opened for submissions. With a budget of € 15 million, this call is open for application until 9 December 2025.
Upcoming Digital Europe calls
The remaining eight calls will open for applications between 4 November 2025 and 3 March 2026. Funding will be distributed across several thematic areas, including:
- € 79.2 million for the consolidation of and € 8 million for expanding the European Digital Innovation Hubs network, supporting businesses in their digital transformation;
- € 22.5 million to enhance biomedical research and personalised healthcare, plus € 14.4 million to foster the use of AI-driven medical imaging technologies;
- € 9 million to promote industrial data sharing;
- € 4.5 million to stimulate digital innovation in the European automotive sector;
- €6 million to strengthen the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) hubs.
