Are you developing or applying advanced defence technologies? The upcoming AGILE programme (Agile and Rapid Defence Innovation) is designed to support rapid innovation across the European defence sector. The first call is expected in early 2027.
Who is it for?
The programme is open to companies based in:
- the European Union (EU)
- the European Economic Area (EEA)
- the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)
- Ukraine
It is particularly aimed at SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups with innovative capabilities.
What can you apply for?
AGILE supports projects focused on the development of new defence technologies and the implementation ans market development of innovative solutions. The programme emphasises ‘New Defence’ technologies, including:
- artificial intelligence (AI);
- quantum technologies;
- drones and autonomous systems.
What makes AGILE different from other programmes?
AGILE stands out from other defence funding programmes due to its:
- Fast approval process, with decisions potentially made within four months;
- Strong focus on collaboration between organisations;
- Emphasis on rapid deployment of innovations.
Additional opportunities
Beyond funding, the programme offers further possibilities to encourage companies to expand their activities. For example; testing of new technologies in real-world evironments, participate in experimental applications and explore innovative forms of collaborations.
Budget and funding levels
An estimated total budget of €115 million is expected to be availible in 2027. Projects may apply for funding ranging from €1 million to €5 million.
When to apply
The first call for proposals is anticipated in early 2027.
