Interreg is a grant programme from the EU that supports cross-border cooperation to strengthen economic and social cohesion across Europe. Interreg provides funding for joint projects between regions in different countries, encouraging collaboration in areas such as innovation, sustainable development, transport, education, and social inclusion. If you’re considering a cross-border collaboration in Europe, the Interreg program offers the financial support and framework to turn your ambitions into reality.
Interreg programmes divided in regions
Interreg has 86 programmes of specific regions and areas. All the programmes are part of one of the following strands:
- Interreg A (Cross-border cooperation) – Focuses on border regions to address common challenges and tap into shared potential.
- Interreg B (Transnational cooperation) – Encourages cooperation across larger territories, like the North Sea or Alpine regions, to improve strategic planning and regional integration.
- Interreg C (Interregional cooperation) – Enables knowledge-sharing and policy learning across all EU regions.
