In July 2025, the ninth call of the Eurostars funding programme will open for innovative SMEs working together with foreign partners. These partners must be based in one of the Eurostars participating countries. Although the final submission deadline has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to fall in September 2025. As with previous Eurostars calls, the emphasis is on market-driven technological development.
Support for international R&D projects
The Eurostars programme is a joint initiative by EUREKA and the European Commission, aimed specifically at SMEs that invest in research and development. The programme encourages international collaboration in technological innovation. Funding is available for projects that result in new products, services, or processes with a clear added value for the market. Each participating country allocates an annual budget for the Eurostars programme. The grant contribution is typically between 40% and 50% of eligible project costs, with a maximum of € 500,000 per project.
What are the requirements for participation?
To qualify for Eurostars funding, both the project and the consortium must meet specific criteria:
- The project must be led by an SME from a Eurostars country;
- The consortium must consist of at least two independent entities from at least two different Eurostars countries;
- The project must exclusively focus on civil applications;
- The project duration may not exceed 36 months.
