A new Innovation Fund Auction has been introduced, set to open in 2025: the IF25 Pilot Heat Auction. This auction will focus on the decarbonisation of industrial processes to move towards a carbon-neutral industry. On 9 July 2025, a webinar will be hosted by the Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission to discuss the draft terms and conditions for the IF25 Auction.
Funding Opportunities for Low-Carbon Innovation in 2025
Both individual and consortia of companies, research institutions and public bodies can apply for Innovation Fund grant to invest in low-carbon technologies. The programme offers annual calls for proposals and, for two years, auctions which initially focused on hydrogen.
In February 2025, the IF25 Auction was announced, targeting the decarbonisation of industrial activities. This auction is part of the Clean Industrial Deal, which has unlocked a significant budget for the Innovation Fund. A total of € 1 billion is available to support projects such as heat pumps, electric boilers, and other similar technologies.

The purpose of the webinar is to provide further insight, perspectives and relevant documentation regarding the auction, allowing potential applicants to begin preparing their proposals. The official call for proposals is expected to be published towards the end of 2025.
